Privacy
Three Plates is a free, open-source dinner planner. This page explains what it stores and where.
Without signing in
Everything you enter (plans, favorites, ratings, shopping lists) is saved only in your browser on this device. It's never sent to us. Backups are files you download and keep yourself.
With family sync
If you sign in with Microsoft or GitHub and join a household, your household's plan, favorites, ratings, shopping list and kitchen lists are stored in Microsoft Azure (Cosmos DB). Everyone in the household can see and change them.
From your sign-in, we keep only an anonymous user ID from the sign-in provider and the name you choose to show your household. We don't receive your password, and we don't use your data for advertising or sell it.
Basic request logs (time, endpoint, errors) are kept for up to 30 days in Azure Application Insights to keep the service running.
AI features
Your AI key stays in this browser and is never synced. AI requests go straight from your browser to the provider you choose, under that provider's own terms.
Deleting your data
In Settings, under Family sync, Leave household stops syncing. When the last person leaves, the household's synced data is deleted. Delete my sync data also removes your user record. Deleted items are fully removed within 45 days. Data on your own device stays until you clear it.
